Art Therapy Oxfordshire

Providing support to children and young people through creativity and play

What is Art Therapy?

Art Therapy uses creative processes, including art-making, play and movement within a therapeutic relationship to improve and enhance physical, emotional and mental well-being. During art therapy you are supported by an art therapist to explore thoughts and emotions by using art materials, colours, shapes, and images to express how you feel.

Who is it for?

For children and young people facing a range of challenges, including:
• Anxiety and low mood
• Emotional and behaviour difficulties
• Physical illness
For many children and young people, the creative processes of art and play provide a safe way to explore their thoughts and feelings, express themselves, and build self-awareness.

Benefits of Art Therapy:

  • Increase of overall wellbeing

  • Promotes self-awareness and discovery

  • Relieve of difficult or painful emotions

  • Reduction of stress and anxiety

  • Give you a voice to communicate your thoughts and feelings
